Prevent stretch marks while you loose weight.


Stretch marks happen when the skin is pulled by rapid growth or stretching. Although the skin is usually fairly elastic, when it’s overstretched, the normal production of collagen (the major protein that makes up the connective tissue in your skin) is disrupted. As a result, scars called stretch marks may form. 

Rapid changes of your body can cause stretch marks, putting on weight and losing it will result in the pesky scars we all love to hate, but there is a way to help reduce the possibility of stretch marks and their appearance.

A few years back I was an all natural organics girl. I still am, but it’s harder for me to get access to organic products these days.

I had put on and lost weight many times, and as a result my arms, breasts and lower back and hips had heaps of stretch marks.

One day, after about a year of using organic products, I looked down to see that most of the stretch marks on my hips and lower back had faded to the point you wouldn’t know they were ever there to begin with.

I thought back to what I was doing different in order to understand why my body was reacting in such a way all of a sudden. The permanent obvious appearance of stretch marks was there, unchanged for many years, until then.

I realised that the changes I made were based on the skin products I was using.

Two to be exact.

  1. I stopped using generic soap, and started to use homemade, olive oil and goats milk soap.
  2. I was moisturising with coconut oil.
  3. I drank A LOT of water.


-Throughout the years I have used coconut oil in different ways and it is one of those things that is constantly in my pantry.

I used it as a make up remover, a anti-ageing face moisturiser, cooking oil, hair mask and an all body moisturiser.

Coconut Oil is known for it’s many benefits and as the healthiest alternative to most cooking oils in the market. Full of healthy fats and easily processed by the liver so it doesn’t store in your body as fat and as an ailment to many skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.

It is full of antioxidants that help heal the body from the inside and the outside.

These benefits make unrefined coconut oil the perfect stretch mark prevention tool in your pantry. 

So you can go ahead and throw out all the products that claim to prevent or heal stretch marks, and swap them with a jar of unrefined coconut oil.

Moisturise twice a day, and see the benefits for yourself.


-As for the Castile olive oil and goats milk soap. There are no additives, no fragrances, just good ole goats milk, olive oil and lye, made by the hand. This means you are giving your skin only the essentials it is after and keeping it clean without stripping it from it’s natural oils.

(The one I used belonged to my grandma who died about 28 years ago, so the soap was roughly the same age and still perfect)

-The last thing you need to remember is to drink a lot of water. Our bodies depend on hydration, and the skin, being the largest organ on our body, needs it to retain its elasticity and its health.



There you have it. My saviours, coconut oil , olive oil soap and water. It has worked for me and perhaps it will work for you too, give it a try and see how your body responds!
